Norman H. Dachs is a founding partner of the Mineola, New York based Law Firm of Shayne, Dachs, Corker, Sauer & Dachs, LLP, in Mineola, New York, specializing in personal injury and insurance litigation representing both plaintiffs and defendants. Presently in his 50th year of practice, having graduated from Brooklyn Law School at the age of 21, Mr. Dachs is admitted to practice before all New York State Courts and the United States Districts Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts and the U.S. Supreme Court.
One of the original featured columnists for the New York Law Journal, Mr. Dachs has co-authored the “Insurance and No-Fault Law” and “Insurance Law” column since 1973. In addition, he has been a contributing author to many books, including Schwartz, Louis E., Trial of Automobile Accident Cases (Matthew Bender, 1958); “Making a Personal Injury Practice Profitable” (PLI, 1972); and No-Fault and Uninsured Motorist Automobile Insurance (Matthew Bender 1984). Mr. Dachs also served as co-editor of several legal publications to which he also contributed lead articles, including Course Handbook, “Art of Evaluating Personal Injury Cases” (PLI, 1972); the New York State Bar Association’s “Trial Lawyers Section Digest” (1989-1993) and the New York Negligence Reporter (Matthew Bender, 1989-1993).
In 1978, Mr. Dachs was selected by the Superintendent of Insurance of the State of New York to be one of the original American Arbitration Association No-Fault Master Arbitrators, a capacity in which he still serves. He has also served as a Special Professor of Law at the Hofstra Law School.
A highly skilled appellate advocate, Mr. Dachs has been involved in some of the most well-known, important and widely cited cases in New York’s legal history, including Seider v. Roth, Lalomia v. Bankers & Shippers Ins. Co., Figliomeni v. Board of Education of the City of New York, Trimarco v. Klein, Heitner v. GEICO, and Nicastro v. Park. He has also lectured extensively at the American Arbitration Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the Nassau-Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association, the Society of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters, at judicial seminars, as well as various individual insurance company seminars, on all areas of personal injury and liability insurance law, including no-fault, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage.
In his personal life, Mr. Dachs is a founding member of the Young Israel of Woodmere, where he has served many years as an Officer, Trustee and Building Chairman and has been very active in numerous charitable and educational organizations. He has been married for 46 years to his lovely wife, Zena, and is especially proud of his three children, Jonathan, with whom he has practiced law for the past 15 years, Michael and Devra, their spouses, and his seven beautiful (and brilliant!) grandchildren.
Russell Corker is a plaintiff’s medical malpractice and personal injury trial lawyer and senior partner of the firm. After graduating from Boston University School of Law in 1974, he was an Assistant District Attorney of Nassau County, and then practiced in a firm that represented doctors and hospitals in medical malpractice lawsuits. In 1980, he joined Shayne, Dachs and became the principal trial attorney representing plaintiffs in medical malpractice, personal injury, labor law and products liability cases. He personally oversees all of the plaintiff cases in the firm, from intake until completion and has recently been voted as one of the Ten Leaders of Civil Trial Law and one of Top Ten Trial Attorneys on Long Island.
Mr. Corker is board certified in medical professional liability by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. He is a member of numerous legal organizations, among these are the American Bar Association, the American College of Legal Medicine, the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Nassau-Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association, which he chaired, the Nassau County Bar Association, for which he chaired the Medical Jurisprudence Committee, and currently is the Chairman of the Grievance Committee, Chairman of the Supreme Court Committee and sits on the Judicial Screening and Nominating Committees. Mr. Corker received the Nassau County Bar Association’s “President’s Award” for 2008. He has frequently spoken at various programs on topics related to medicine, medical malpractice, trauma, trial practice and personal injury litigation for the Nassau County Bar Association Academy of Law, the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the Practicing Law Institute, the New School for Social Research, the Hofstra University School of Law, Molloy College of Nursing, St. John's University College of Law and the State University of New York at Stonybrook School of Medicine. He has also published articles on medical and hospital liability and medicine and the law and trial practice.

Brian J. Sauer is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of C.W. Post College (LIU) and a graduate of New York Law School. He has been an Arbitrator with the Supreme Court Early Neutral Evaluation System, Nassau County District Court System and the American Arbitration Association. He is a member of the Bar Association of Nassau County, the New York State and American Bar Associations, the Nassau-Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association (Secretary 2001-2002) and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. He has also lectured extensively for the New York State and Nassau County Bar Associations on Labor Law actions and on radio, before legal and civic groups and at local high schools on various topics including `Insurance - What You Should Know' and `How to Choose an Attorney' and `How to Handle a Personal Injury Lawsuit - Discovery through Trial.'
Jonathan A. Dachs, a partner in the firm of Shayne, Dachs, Corker, Sauer & Dachs, LLP, is a graduate of Columbia College of Columbia University (1980) and the New York University Law School (1983). He is admitted to practice before all New York State Courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts and is a member of the Nassau County, New York State, New York County and American Bar Associations and is a member of the Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. He was the 1995 recipient of the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award from the New York State Bar Association’s Tort Insurance & Compensation Law Section.
Mr. Dachs has lectured frequently before the American Arbitration Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the Bar Association of Nassau County, the Suffolk County Bar Association, the Brooklyn Bar Association, the Queens Bar Association and St. John’s Law School on such topics as Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Insurance, Dram Shop Liability, Legal Writing, Civil Practice, and Appellate Practice. Mr. Dachs has taught seminars on Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Insurance to Supreme Court and Civil Court judges from all parts of the State at Judicial Seminars and Conferences, and has prepared the written training materials on that topic for Judicial Seminars for Appellate Term judges.
A prolific writer, he is co-author of a regular column in the New York Law Journal on "Insurance and No-Fault Law" and the author of a chapter entitled "Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Protection," which appears in New York Insurance Law (Matthew Bender & Co., Inc.) (Supplemented annually). He is also the author of a Chapter entitled “Uninsured Motorist (UM), Underinsured Motorist (UIM), and Supplementary Uninsured Motorist (SUM) Coverage in New York -- Pre- and Post-Regulation 35-D,” which appears in Weitz on Automobile Litigation (NYSTLI 1997). From November 1989 to November 1992, he served as Co-Editor-In-Chief of the "New York Negligence Reporter" published by Matthew Bender, and he has for the past several years been a regular contributor to the New York State Bar Association’s Trial Lawyers Section Digest.
In addition to the extensive collection of articles he has co-authored in the New York Law Journal, Mr. Dachs has authored many other published articles, including annual reviews of Uninsured, Underinsured and Supplementary Uninsured Motorist case law in the New York State Bar Journal for the past eleven years; as well as numerous articles that have appeared in the New York Negligence Reporter, and in the Trial Lawyers Quarterly and Trial Lawyers Digest.

Naomi Raphael Nathan, M.D., J.D. is a graduate of the New York University School of Law, and is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist who practiced medicine for twenty-five years before attending law school. A cum laude graduate of the State University of New York College of Medicine, she has taught and lectured extensively and authored articles in her specialty in addition to her busy practice. Since joining the Mineola, New York based Law Firm Shayne, Dachs, Corker, Sauer & Dachs, LLP’s medical malpractice team, she has lectured at the Bar Association of the Nassau County Academy of Law and various community groups.
Neil T. Shayne (1932-1998), a founding partner of the firm of Shayne, Dachs, Corker, Sauer & Dachs, LLP, graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1954. For many years he was the author of a column in the New York Law Journal on "Economics and the Law." He was appointed by the Appellate Division, Second Department as a member of its Committee on Character and Fitness. Between 1987 and 1989 he served as the Dean of the Nassau Academy of Law, which administers continuing legal education programs for attorneys. Mr. Shayne also served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Bar Association of Nassau County and as Chairperson of its Committee on Professional Ethics. He was also the Chair of the Judicial Screening Committee of the Nassau Democratic Party for many years.
Mr. Shayne taught many courses for various lawyer groups, including the American Bar Association, The Practicing Law Institute, the American Management Association, and The Bar Association of Nassau County. He was also an adjunct faculty member of the New York School for Social Research. He was Chairman of the Board of Editors of the Trial Diplomacy Journal and is listed in Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in America. He authored many articles on personal injury, medical malpractice trial techniques, law office management and ethics and lectured in more than 30 states. He was also an active member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
